Our First and mid-trimester abortions are performed by an experienced gynecologists. You may choose to have local anesthetic or IV sedation provided by experienced Anesthesiologists. The procedure is accomplished by suction curettage or dilation and evacuation. A nurse and medical assistant will be with you at all times. Following the procedure, you will need to rest for 1-2 hours in our recovery room where our nurse will monitor your recovery and assist you until you are ready to go home. Before you go home, you will be given medication to help your recovery, and after care instruction sheet. You should plan to be at the center for three to four hours and arrange for someone to drive you home.

On the day of your appointment:

​

• Take a bath or shower.

• Have a light dinner the night before.

• DO NOT take anything by mouth after midnight.

• DO NOT wear any jewelry.

• Make arrangement for transportation home.

 

Follow-up examination: It is important to have a follow-up examination two weeks after your procedure.
